How assessment is planned
Assessment may include nasal examination or endoscopy and review of symptom duration, smell, asthma, allergy and previous treatment. Imaging is selected when needed for diagnosis or surgical planning.
Care depends on the cause
Management commonly begins with clinician-directed anti-inflammatory care and saline measures where appropriate. Surgery may be discussed when symptoms and objective disease remain significant despite suitable treatment, or for selected disease patterns. Biologics or advanced procedures require individual eligibility and verified referral pathways.
Follow-up and realistic expectations
Polyps can recur and may need long-term medical management after surgery. Shared decisions should cover expected benefit, limits, postoperative care, follow-up and the possibility of recurrent disease or revision treatment.
